On Friday evening, May 29, sixteen newly married Catholic couples from across the Diocese of Norwich gathered at the home of Bishop Richard Reidy for a special Meet and Greet that proved to be a tremendous success.
The evening provided an opportunity for couples to meet the Bishop in a relaxed and welcoming setting while also connecting with other newlyweds from around the diocese. Throughout the gathering, couples enthusiastically shared stories, made new friendships, and began building a stronger sense of community with one another.
Guests enjoyed a casual picnic-style meal featuring BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches, green salad, potato salad, chips, and fresh watermelon for dessert. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged conversation, laughter, and fellowship as couples spent time getting to know one another.
One of the highlights of the evening was a Newlywed Game featuring ten questions designed to test how well spouses knew one another. The game generated plenty of laughter and friendly competition as couples compared their answers. While several couples came close, no one managed to achieve a perfect score of 10 out of 10, much to everyone's amusement.
The event highlighted the Diocese’s commitment to supporting newly married couples and fostering connections that will help strengthen marriages and family life. Many participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet the Bishop personally and to connect with other Catholic couples who are beginning the same journey of married life.
The evening was a joyful celebration of faith, marriage, and community, leaving everyone looking forward to future opportunities to gather together.
