Big Laughs for a Big Cause: 2nd Annual Comedy Night to Benefit Amazing Grace Food Pantry

Four Acclaimed National Comedians to Perform at 2nd Annual “Comedy, Charity, Community” Night at Wesleyan University, Friday, January 24th, to benefit Amazing Grace Food Pantry

St. Vincent de Paul Middletown (SVDM) in partnership with Wesleyan University’s Robert F. Schumann Institute of the Bailey College of the Environment is proud to present a night of “Comedy, Charity, Community” on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. at. Wesleyan University’s Fayerweather Building, Beckham Hall, 55 Wyllys Ave, Middletown.

Tickets ($69) are available in advance at SVDMiddletown.org and at the door, include a community social at 6 p.m. with free hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks. We will have a fine selection of wine & beer available for purchase. After the two-hour show, organizers will draw a raffle ticket for a fully stocked wine rack. All proceeds of the evening benefit Middletown’s Amazing Grace Food Pantry.

Four seasoned comedians from Boston and Connecticut, with hearts as big as their funny bones, include Carolyn Plummer, Howie Mason, Max Docelli, and Scott Higgins.

For over 30 years, Max Docelli has performed in comedy clubs and comedy festivals in the U.S. and Canada, casinos and clubs in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and the Bahamas, corporate events, cruise ships, and on television and radio. He opened for and worked with premier entertainers such as Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Ray Romano, Tim Allen, Sam Kinison, Redd Foxx, Rosie O’Donnell, Little Richard, and others.

Carolyn Plummer has traveled the country doing comedy for over 20 years. She was named Best of the Fest at the Burbank and  The Women in Comedy Festival. She also performed at Denis Leary's Comics Come Home 26 at the TD Garden for the Cam Neely Foundation. She is a versatile comic who tells jokes in front of nuns or biker dudes at home.

Howie Mason has brought his reasonably smart brand of humor to the biggest venues in the area, including Comix Mohegan Sun, the Funny Bone, and the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA. His distinctive views on topics such as family and everyday aggravations have made him a crowd favorite all over the Northeast.

Scott Higgins is a comedian, show producer, and podcaster.  Starting stand-up in 2002, he quickly became the go-to act for many clubs.  In 2014, he started producing his Comedy All Stars show at the Bradley Playhouse which sold out in its second year of shows and continues today.  In 2020 the Comedy All Stars started running in multiple theaters.

The public can purchase “Comedy, Charity, Community” tickets in advance at SVDMiddletown.org or by scanning here. Call Peter at 860-344-0097 (x111) for more information.
