St. James School, located in Danielson, CT is seeking enthusiastic, visionary, and faith-filled educational leaders to apply for the position of Principal. St. James School is a PK through Grade 8 Catholic institution serving 220 students in Northeastern Connecticut. The ideal candidate will serve as the chief administrator, leading a talented faculty, continuing to build upon the school’s mission of Catholic education.

Role and Responsibilities

• A practicing Catholic with a commitment to on-going faith formation in catechetical leadership development.
• Possess the necessary academic credentials, as well as expertise in mission advancement, communication, organization, financial management, and Catholic schools.
• Acts as the educational leader of the school and as such is responsible for the administration and supervision of its educational program and staff.
• Promotes a school climate that values the spiritual welfare and moral foundation of the students.
• Provides effective faculty and staff development and plans content for all professional development days.
• Prepares and manages the annual school budget, in accordance with the Parish and Diocese of Norwich.
• In collaboration with the Pastor, handles administrative decisions concerning school activities and programs as well as daily operation and maintenance of the physical plant.
• Knowledge of and ability to lead the NEASC accreditation process for Catholic Schools.

Candidates must possess a master’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university in educational administration, preferably in Catholic school leadership. It is preferred that the principal obtain a sixth-year certificate in administration.
