On Wednesday, September 13, a Mass for Healing, Praying for Mental Health: Awareness and Actions for a Culture of Acceptance, will take place at 6 PM at St. Joseph Church in New London. This will be the second annual celebration of this Mass, again to be celebrated by Father Mark O’Donnell and Father Ray Introvigne. St. Joseph Church in New London was chosen in particular for the Mental Health Awareness Mass because it is home to a unique statue of St. Dymphna, patroness of mental health, depression, and nervous disorders. The large and ornate statue was carved from wood by a local artisan and gifted to the parish, it is one-of-a-kind. Last year’s mass was a great gathering of many faithful from across the diocese and it is our hope to bring even more people together this year to support those with mental health illnesses.
