The Annual Convocation for Priests in the Diocese of Norwich - Dec. 4-6

41st Annual Convocation For the Priests in the Diocese of Norwich

The Annual Convocation for Priests will be held December 4-6, 2023. It is an important event for the priests of the Diocese of Norwich who come together with Bishop Cote for spiritual renewal and continuing education/formation.

Bishop Cote emphasized the importance of this annual gathering in his letter inviting each priest to the Convocation, “Your presence and commitment to this time together is important to me. This year we celebrate the 41st year of gathering as a presbyterate for the Convocation.”

Bishop Cote will be the Principal Celebrant of the two Eucharistic Liturgies.

Deacon Francis J. Bachand, 96, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Colonial Health and Rehabilitation. He was the beloved husband of the late Edna (Millovitsch) Bachand, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Norwich, he was the son of the late Ernest and Cora (Morin) Bachand. After a brief service in the Navy and working in local textile mills, Fran spent over 30 years at the Jewett City Post Office, where he was a familiar and welcoming face at the counter. The children of Saint Patrick Cathedral School in Norwich were all smiles on the morning of September 30th, when they attended the blessing and dedication of the school's new playground. The cards are all in. Now the letters are going out. The Called by Name vocations initiative is in motion. Since August, Archbishop Christopher J. Coyne has been actively sending out letters to vocation nominees, inviting them to discern a call to the priesthood, to the religious and consecrated life or to the diaconate.
