Meet The Board of Catholic Charities: Attorney Ralph Monaco

Q: How long have you been a member of the Board of Directors at Catholic Charities?

A: I have been on Catholic Charities Board of Directors for three years but have been on the New London Advisory Board for 14 years.

Q: Why did you become involved with Catholic Charities and what has your involvement looked like during your tenure?

A: I became involved because I believe strongly that the Catholic Church must care for our neighbors who are in need. We must see Christ in every person and offer ways for them to improve their situation in life.

Q: How would you characterize the Board’s role for a non-profit like Catholic Charities?

A: The Board oversees the operation of Catholic Charities. Our role is not to micro-manage the organization. We look at the big picture, such as longterm planning.

Q: Tell us something about your career that most people would not know.

A: In 2010-11 I served as the second youngest president of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Q: Tell us something about your personal life that most people would not know.

A: I am proud to have attended Catholic schools from 1st grade through college.

Taking the Light Out From Under the Bushel Basket
Taking the Light Out From Under the Bushel Basket Every parish has people living just beyond its doors who may never think of the Church until they need it—when a loved one dies, when life raises a question they cannot answer, when loneliness settles in, or when they simply begin wondering whether faith has anything to say to the life they are living. The challenge is reaching them before that moment passes. That is the opportunity Father Brian Converse sees in the Tri-Parish Community’s renewed Evangelization Program, sponsored by St. Mary, Mother of t...
