Emergency Crisis in Haiti: A Call to Prayer

Haiti, a nation long afflicted by political unrest, poverty, and natural disasters, is facing an escalating crisis of violence and instability. Over the weekend, reports emerged of increased violence drawing perilously close to the Diocese of Norwich's facility in Christ-Roi, Haiti, heightening concerns for the safety of the community and staff who work tirelessly to serve the most vulnerable.

The Diocese has a deep connection to Haiti through its Outreach to Haiti ministry, a lifeline for countless individuals in need. This vital mission provides healthcare, education, nutrition, and other critical support in a country where many lack basic necessities. Despite the worsening conditions, the dedicated staff of Outreach to Haiti remain steadfast in their commitment, embodying the Gospel call to serve "the least of these" (Matthew 25:40).

In light of this growing emergency, Archbishop Christopher Coyne has issued an urgent plea to all parishes within the Diocese. He has asked that every Mass this weekend include a prayer intention for the people of Haiti and for the safety of those serving in-country.

We invite all parishioners to join in prayer this weekend, asking God to bring peace, protection, and hope to the people of Haiti and the dedicated individuals who continue their ministry amid such adversity.
