Celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Mark your calendars for a celebration honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas!

Thursday, December 12th

2024 Cathedral of St. Patrick 213 Broadway, Norwich

6:30pm Rosary and opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation

7:00pm Holy Mass (bi-lingual)

Principal Celebrant: Most Rev. Juan Miguel Betancourt, Auxiliary Bishop of Hartford

This cherished feast day commemorates Mary’s apparition to a humble indigenous man in 1531, St. Juan Diego, in the hills of Tepeyac, Mexico. Speaking to him in his native language, she requested a chapel be built in her honor. To prove her divine request, she caused a miraculous image of herself to appear on Juan Diego’s tilma, a simple cloak, which remains preserved and venerated to this day in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

This event was a powerful moment of evangelization, uniting people of different cultures and languages under the Catholic faith. Today, Our Lady of Guadalupe is a symbol of hope, faith, and maternal love, reminding us of God’s closeness to the marginalized and His invitation to each of us to trust in His providence.

This celebration is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich traditions of the Catholic faith, while connecting with others in the community. Whether you’ve celebrated this feast for years or are experiencing it for the first time, all are welcome to share in this joyous occasion.

Come gather under the loving gaze of Our Lady of Guadalupe, offering her our prayers and trusting in her intercession as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ during this Advent season.

We look forward to seeing you there!
