Saturday, August 8

Family Hike with Bishop Reidy at Wachusett Mountain

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. • Hike departs at 10 a.m.

Individuals and families from across the Diocese of Norwich are invited to join Bishop Reidy for a moderate hike at Wachusett Mountain. The hike is expected to conclude by approximately 2:30 p.m.


Tuesday, August 11

Faith, Friends & Bonfires: Summer Evenings for Teens and Young Adults

5–9 p.m. • Marian Friary of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 199 Colonel Brown Road, Griswold

Teens ages 13–17 and young adults ages 18–30 are invited to three evenings of faith, fellowship and prayer featuring dinner, a series talk, Eucharistic Adoration and fellowship around a bonfire.

Sunday, August 16

Feast of the Assumption Celebration

Mass begins at 9:30 a.m. • St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, New London

Celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption with Mass followed by a Eucharistic procession to St. Joseph Church, a blessing of the sick and a return procession to St. Mary Star of the Sea. A luncheon will follow from noon to 3 p.m. at St. Paul Church in Waterford.


Thursday, August 27

Discover the Gift of the Liturgy of the Hours

6:30–8:30 p.m. • Holy Family Motherhouse, 54 West Main Street, Baltic

Sister Rosemary Esseff, O.P., will lead a workshop for those who already pray the Liturgy of the Hours and those who would like to discover this prayer of the Church. A free-will offering will be accepted. Registration is required by August 24.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter Experience

Holy Family Retreat Center • West Hartford

Morning Tour: 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Afternoon Tour: 12:15–2:30 p.m.
St. Edmund's Retreat at Enders Island, 1 Enders Island, Mystic

Experience the beauty of Enders Island's renowned dahlia gardens during one of two guided tours. Visitors will enjoy more than 300 varieties of prize-winning dahlias while reflecting on the beauty of God's creation.

Frosty Village Christmas Bazaar

Friday, 5–8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
St. Matthew Church Hall, Tolland

Shop handcrafted items, baked goods, knit and crochet apparel, doll clothes, pet gifts, jewelry and Attic Treasures. The bazaar also features raffles, photos with Santa, sandwiches, homemade soup and apple pies.

“Sleigh Bells Ring”

9 a.m.–3 p.m.
St. Maurice Church, Bolton

Visit the country store and shop homemade treats, crafts, stocking stuffers, evergreen baskets and items from many crafters. The event also features Take-A-Chance raffles, homemade apple pies and a hot lunch. The site is accessible.
