Celebrate National Marriage Week with an At-Home Marriage Retreat

National Marriage Week is February 7-14. In honor of the week-long celebration which recognizes and affirms the Sacrament of Marriage, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has released an  At-Home Marriage Retreat for couples to deepen their couple prayer and enrich their marriage. The theme of this year’s retreat is Marriage: To Have, To Hold, To Honor.

Each day of the retreat offers a Scripture passage followed by imaginative conversations between the characters from the story. There are also reflection questions for couples to ponder and a closing prayer. This year’s retreat was created by Dr. Jim Healey, the retired director of the Office of Family Ministry for the Diocese of Joliet, a post he held for 30 years.

The retreat is a perfect opportunity for couples to unite in prayer and reflection. Praying together as a couple can strengthen the bond between husband and wife as well as increase trust and intimacy between one another. More important, it is an intentional way for spouses to invite the Lord into their marriage and acknowledge God’s presence in their relationship.

For couples who may not be praying together, this year’s Marriage Week Retreat provides a perfect opportunity and forum to begin.

The retreat is available in both English and Spanish.
