USCCB Urges Preservation of the Hyde Amendment

Latest budget proposes forcing taxpayers to fund abortion on demand!

Urgent Action Needed!

On Friday, May 28th, President Biden released his Fiscal Year 2022 budget in which he proposes to eliminate the Hyde Amendment and some related pro-life provisions. Calling for the elimination of Hyde in a president’s budget is unprecedented. The Hyde Amendment and similar laws have protected taxpayers from funding elective abortion for 45 years. Now, powerful members of Congress want to take away these laws that both Democrats and Republicans have supported for nearly half a century. Billions of taxpayer dollars could be used to pay for abortion. The Hyde Amendment has been part of every appropriations bill since 1976, with strong bipartisan support. Now the President and Democratic leaders want to exclude the amendment from all future spending bills.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is urging all Catholics to take action to preserve the Hyde Amendment by signing a petition and contacting their U.S. Senators and Representatives. See the links below to learn more and take action.

Far from marking an ending, however, the feast points toward a beginning: the commissioning of the apostles, the birth of the Church’s mission, and the promise that...
