40 Days for Life Begins with Mass

The Most Reverend Michael R. Cote, D.D., along with diocesan priests kicked off 40 Days for Life in the Diocese of Norwich with a Mass.

Bishop Cote thanked the congregants, "for the solidarity and the support that you show for the great gift of life." The passing of Roe v. Wade in 1973, "changed the fabric of American life by hardening hearts to the dignity and the sacredness of the human person and by sanctioning in public law, the taking of human lives. The end product of this resulted in the death of millions of little ones throughout the nation and throughout the world. In addition, the decision brought pain and suffering to all who have fallen victim to the so-called philosophy of choice. A choice that has no problem with taking innocent life.' the bishop said. Bishop Cote stated that prayer is our strongest defense, pointing out that " there are some scourges in life that only prayer can cure."
