In Memoriam—Sr. Priscilla Blais, DHS (1930~2025)

January 14, 1930 - July 21, 2025

Sr. Priscilla Blais (95), a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, died on Monday, July 21, 2025 at St Joseph Living Center in Windham, CT.              

Born on January 14,1930 in Lewiston, ME, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Stanislas Blais and Mary Stella Goulet Blais.

Sr. Priscilla entered the Congregation in 1963 and made her religious profession on May 30, 1966, at the Holy Spirit Provincial House in Putnam, CT.  She was then known as Sr. Constance Joseph.

After profession, she attended Bullard Haven Vocational School of Practical Nursing and graduated with an LPN certificate in 1968.  She served as an LPN both in district nursing and private duty in Bridgeport and Putnam, CT and as a staff nurse at St. Clare Nursing Home, Newport, RI, the Villa St. Joseph, Putnam, CT and Holy Spirit Healthcare Center in Putnam, CT until her retirement in 2006.  She joined the community at St. Joseph Living Center in 2018.

Sr. Priscilla had a lifelong love of gardening and flowers. She worked in her parents’ florist shop before entering religious life.

Sr. Priscilla is survived by the Daughters of the Holy Spirit spiritual family – her Sisters in community, including her sister, Sr. Patricia Blais, DHS,  the Consecrated Seculars and the Associates well as several nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her sisters Paulette, Constance, Solange and her brothers Bertrand and Norman.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish/St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic, CT, with a prayer service at 10:15 AM. At 10:45, the CT Nurses Honor Guard will hold a brief ceremony in honor of her many years of service as an LPN. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Putnam, CT at 2:30 PM.

In place of flowers, donations may be made to DHS Retirement Fund, P.O. Box 497, Putnam, CT 06260. The Gilman Valade Funeral Home, located at 104 Church St., Putnam, CT, is in charge of the arrangements.
