Students around the diocese returned to school starting August 27th, when St. Bernard School in Uncasville opened its doors for a new year of classes. Then on Wednesday, August 28th, more than 1400 students in the 11 Catholic elementary schools throughout the diocese began the new academic year.
The Academy of the Holy Family resumes classes on August 29th, with Mercy and Xavier schools doing so on Sept. 3.
Teachers and staff greeted students with enthusiastic smiles, ready to embark on another fun year of learning.
Henry Fiore Jr., who heads up the Diocesan School Office, said, “Our Catholic schools are high achieving and extremely safe and secure. We keep prayer as a priority in our schools, creating an environment where the faith, morality, and virtues are the threads which weave through all areas of curricula.”
Superintendent Fiore added, “If you are interested in exploring the possibility of enrollment in our schools, it is never too late, and you will always be welcomed in a truly inviting and safe atmosphere.
