Job Description

Sacred Heart School, located in Taftville, CT, near Norwich, is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Grade 1 Teacher who will instill a love of learning in young students while following the Diocese of Norwich Curriculum.

The ideal candidate will create a warm, nurturing, and structured classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually while supporting the mission of Catholic education.

Role and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
• Provides engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction for Grade 1 students.
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Demonstrates patience, kindness, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Establishes clear expectations, routines, and procedures appropriate for first-grade students.
• Monitors student progress and uses assessment data to guide instruction.
• Communicates effectively and regularly with parents and families, faculty, and staff.
• Utilizes technology appropriately to enhance instruction and student learning.
• Integrates Catholic values and faith formation into daily classroom life and instruction.

Qualifications

• Practicing Catholic, knowledgeable in and committed to his/her faith.
• Bachelor’s Degree and Connecticut Certification required.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience preferred.
