Catholic Charities Asks for Readers Help in Providing a "A Very Merry Christmas" to Families.

Catholic Charities will be providing “A Very Merry Christmas” to our families and we are asking the parishioners to join in this special celebration of gifts and prayers for our many families and individuals in financial need.

Your gift of an unwrapped children’s toy, for a child up to the age of 12 or a gift card to Walmart or Target for a teenager will be greatly appreciated.

Grocery store gift cards are also enjoyed by the families. Our Food Pantry is busy throughout the year as food assistance is the single largest service provided and it is often the entry point for people to receive additional necessary services, utility, rental assistance, and Financial Empowerment classes for self-sufficiency to identify a few services.

Please bring your unwrapped toy to the Catholic Charities Office closest to you. They are:

  • 331 Main Street Norwich CT, 06360
  • 28 Huntington Street, New London CT 06320
  • 88 Jackson Street Willimantic, CT 06226
  • 16 Stack Street Middletown, CT 06457

or send the gift cards or checks with Christmas 2023 written in the memo line to the same address. Our kids, parents, and grandparents look forward to Christmas as much as your family and our staff, as we all prepare for the true meaning of Christmas, the Birth of our Lord and the Holy Family. Thank you from the staff at Catholic Charities and we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I had long intended to attend the March for Life but life's demands somehow seemed to get in the way. Thankfully I was able to participate this year. Father Brian Maxwell and I joined the Respect Life Ministry of the Archdiocese of Hartford. We bused down to D.C., enjoying camaraderie, prayer, and a movie. For someone who generally does not like bus trips, it was enjoyable and went by very quickly. After checking into our hotel...

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, the Mass provided time for prayer and the chance to donate baby items for the Connecticut Pregnancy Resource Centers. Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish hosted a Mass for Life on Jan. 20 at St. Rober...

The 52nd annual March For Life will be held in Washington D.C. on January 24, 2025.  This year's theme reflects the deeply held belief that every life matters: "Life: Why We March."  According to the march organizers the theme will encourage pro-life advocates to "draw renewed energy for this challenging moment in the movement by reflecting on the basic truth that inspires the pro-life cause: every human life - including the unborn and their mothers is beautiful, has unique dignity, and is worthy of protection."     &...

Nothing is Worth Sacrificing the Life of a Child, Pope Tells World Leaders
At a Vatican summit on children's rights, Pope Francis condemned war, abortion and the exploitation of children for power and profit. He called for global action to protect children, who represent the future of humanity.
