Help Those in Need and the Environment

Catholic Charities, Providing Help & Creating Hope in New London, Middlesex, Windham & Tolland counties, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program.  The Stop & Shop Community Bag Program, which launched in May 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.  Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich was selected as a beneficiary of the program by store leadership.  Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased designating them as the beneficiary.

“As more and more grocers and Connecticut retailers begin to phase out single use plastic bags, reusable bags will become a necessity for everyone.  Being able to purchase a reusable bag and help a non-profit like Catholic Charities is a win-win.  Every dollar makes a difference for an agency like ours and every dollar counts!  I hope that Stop and Shop customers will consider Catholic Charities as their beneficiary”, said Edward J. Tessman, Executive Director of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich.  Catholic Charities is a non-profit based in Eastern Connecticut.  Founded in 1921, Catholic Charities has Provided Help & Created Hope to those of all faiths who are most in need throughout Eastern CT. Ralph served on the Catholic Charities Board of Directors and started this tournament 16 years ago. We were most honored to have Ralph’s wife, Dina, join us at the tournament. Bishop Cote gave a touching speech ...
