Faithful Invited to Witness a Joyous Moment in Diocesan History — Parish Tickets and Livestream Offered

The Diocese of Norwich joyfully awaits the ordination and installation of Bishop-elect Richard F. Reidy as the sixth bishop of Norwich, to be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, Norwich.

Due to the limited capacity of the Cathedral, each parish in the diocese has received an allotment of just four tickets per church to distribute. Anyone interested in attending in person must contact their parish office directly. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate ticket requests through the diocesan office.

The ordination and installation Mass will be live-streamed to ensure the wider diocesan family can participate in this momentous occasion. We encourage all faithful, especially those unable to attend in person, to watch the livestream from home or gather with fellow parishioners for a parish watch party, where technology allows.

This historic moment marks the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the Diocese. As announced by the Holy See in February, Pope Francis appointed Reverend Monsignor Richard F. Reidy as the sixth Bishop of Norwich. Bishop-elect Reidy brings a wealth of pastoral, legal, and administrative experience from the Diocese of Worcester, where he most recently served as Vicar General.

Please keep Bishop-elect Reidy in your prayers as he prepares for his episcopal ordination and installation.

Ash Wednesday at the Cathedral: “Return to Me… It Is Not Too Late.”
The Diocese of Norwich entered the holy season of Lent with the celebration of Ash Wednesday Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, with the Most Reverend Richard F. He began by drawing attention to the opening call of the prophet Joel—words the Church places on our lips at the start of the season: “Return to me.” Bishop Reidy reminded the faithful that those words ar...
