On Saturday, July 19th, middle school and high school youth from across the diocese gathered at Hurd State Park in East Hampton for a special “Hike with the Bishop” hosted by Bishop Richard Reidy.
Under clear summer skies, the group set out on a morning hike through the park’s flexible trails, enjoying the perfect blend of fun, fresh air, and faith. Along the way, Bishop Reidy shared words of encouragement and spiritual reflection, inviting the youth to encounter God through the beauty of creation and meaningful conversation.
With comfortable shoes, water bottles in hand, and picnic lunches packed, the hikers paused at peaceful riverside spots and scenic overlooks—taking time not only to rest, but also to reflect and connect with one another.
The event offered more than just exercise; it was an opportunity to step away from the noise of daily life and experience the joy of faith in fellowship. For many, it was a day to remember-- where friendship was strengthened, faith was nourished, and God’s presence was felt along every step of the trail.
