Diocese of Norwich Helps Neighbors in Need Through CCHD Grants

Bishop Reidy Awards Catholic Campaign for Human Development Grants to Local Organizations Serving Those in Need

Bishop Richard F. Reidy distributed Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) grants to several local organizations dedicated to serving those in need across the region. Funded through the generosity of parishioners throughout the Diocese of Norwich, these grants help alleviate poverty and support life-changing programs in our communities.

The following organizations were awarded CCHD grants for their exceptional service:

Birthright of Greater Norwich, Inc.
Providing vital support to women facing unplanned pregnancies, Birthright offers resources and compassionate care to affirm life.
Community of Hope – Hope House
A refuge for women in crisis, Hope House provides a safe, supportive environment where women can heal from past traumas and rebuild their lives with dignity, community, and hope.
Community of Hope – Kindness Connection
The Kindness Connection provides timely acts of kindness to those in need, offering essentials such as groceries, toiletries, clothing, toilet paper, prayer, and emotional support during difficult moments.
St. Vincent de Paul, Middletown
Serving neighbors in need through practical assistance and compassionate outreach, supporting individuals and families facing hardship.
St. Vincent de Paul Place, Norwich
Providing daily meals, a food pantry, and Care and Advocacy services to help individuals and families overcome barriers such as housing, utilities, ID, transportation, medical access, and employment.
Thames River Community Service, Inc.
Empowering families through housing and supportive services, helping them overcome barriers to independence and stability.

These organizations embody the mission of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, the domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops. By supporting initiatives that address the root causes of poverty, CCHD helps transform lives and strengthen communities.

These grants are made possible by the generosity of parishioners in every parish across the Diocese of Norwich who support this collection with a clear awareness of Christ’s call to serve “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40). Their faithful giving allows these programs to respond to urgent local needs and make a lasting difference for individuals and families striving for stability and hope.
