Sacred Heart on the Lake Retreat Center in Higganum invites the faithful to step away from the busyness of daily life this fall and make time for prayer, reflection and spiritual renewal through several upcoming programs.
The fall schedule begins with “Jesus’ Divine Mercy & His Sacred Heart of Unconditional Love” Retreat Day on Saturday, September 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Led by Sr. Lany Jo Smith, ASCJ, the retreat is being offered for the fourth time by popular request. The day will include a continental breakfast and full lunch. A donation of $35 is requested. Registration is available by contacting Sr. Lany Jo Smith at 203-606-9102.
Beginning Wednesday, September 16, the retreat center will also offer a Spiritual Book Study focused on The Gospel of St. Matthew. The program will consist of twelve sessions, meeting on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon, with Part 2 continuing in 2027. A donation of $10 per session is suggested.

Those looking to explore the connection between creativity and spirituality are invited to “Artists with the Spirit, Days on the Lake,” held on Tuesdays, September 8, 15, 22 and 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and art supplies, with coffee and other refreshments provided. Each gathering will begin with a brief spirituality-of-art presentation by Sr. Lany Jo, followed by time for participants to create in the medium of their choice. A free-will offering is requested, and advance registration is required.
