Hike at Wolf Den at Mashamoquet Brook State Park with Bishop Reidy

A Youth and Family Event with Bishop Reidy hosted by Deanery I: A Hike to the Wolf Den at Mashamoquet Brook State Park, 276 Mashamoquet Road, Pomfret, CT. Friday, September 11th 2026, from 4-8pm: Families are invited to pack a picnic dinner to enjoy in the stone pavilion and any lawn games they enjoy.

The Bishop arrives for 5:00pm, and around 5:30pm, we will then be read the story of Israel Putnam hunting the last she-wolf in CT by a LaSalette parishioner. The group will next embark on a hike to the wolf den completing a loop about 3 miles (some moderately challenging sections).

Meanwhile, family members not hiking may light the fireplaces in the stone pavilion getting ready to roast marshmallows and make smore's when the Bishop and hiking group return.

We are in need of the following - volunteers, marshmallows, roasting sticks, smore's ingredients (graham crackers, chocolate), citronella candles (12 tables), bundles of wood. To register, ask questions or to volunteer, please contact Rebecca Swagger-LaBonte: (860) 377-0387.

Bishop Richard F. Reidy opens the Blessing of the Farm near the barn at Wehpittituck Farm, its loft doors draped with an American flag. A Tradition Continues in Pawcatuck Hosted by the St. Michael Maria Assunta Society, this tradition was brought here by the Sicilian Tusani who migrated and settled in Pawcatuck. The beautiful statue of the Blessed Mother was carved in Genoa from wood and shipped from Palermo, Sicily, in 1935.
