Ministry During Pandemic - Special "One Faith, One Family" Edition of the Four County Catholic

Ministry During Pandemic - Special "One Faith, One Family" Edition of the Four County Catholic

Approximately two months ago the Ministry Fair that was to be held on March 15 was postponed due to coronavirus concerns. This annual event is a way to showcase the good works of our diocesan ministries. It is at the Ministry Fair that ministry directors and their staffs update participants on the positive impact of their work. This is an important event to the success of the Annual Catholic Appeal and by extension the continued support of the ministries.

Within three days of the postment the Development Office and the Communication Office with the help of the Ministry directors and their staffs formulated a plan to have a Virtual Ministry Fair within the pages of the Four County Catholic. This issue is the result of that planning.

The mission of our ministries can best be expressed by the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew:

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.

Matthew 25:35-36

It is our prayer that within these pages you will see how extremely important the ministries are to so many individuals, probably now more than ever,

Whether you need help or are able to help, no matter what, we could benefit from your prayers.

The Humble Servant – A Deacon’s Heart
The permanent deacon is an ordained minister who receives the Sacrament of Holy Orders and is called to a life of service to the People of God in the ministries of the liturgy, the word, and charity. The permanent deacon is called to be a living “image of Christ” (Imago Christi), called to “serve, not to be served.” Diaconate service can only be genuine when it is rooted in humility. Colin D’Amelio is attempting to create a film illustrating the humble heart of a deacon. Colin is the son of Deacon Dan and Kathy D’Amelio, D...
