On July 22, the Church celebrates St. Mary Magdalene, a woman whose journey from brokenness to bold witness continues to inspire the faithful today. Once described in the Gospels as a woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons, Mary Magdalene experienced the transformative mercy of Christ—and responded with unwavering devotion.
She stood by Jesus in His final hours on the Cross when most had fled. And on that first Easter morning, it was Mary Magdalene who found the empty tomb. It was to her that the Risen Christ first appeared, entrusting her with the message of the Resurrection. For this, she is rightly honored as the “Apostle to the Apostles.”
Her life is a powerful witness to conversion, courage, and evangelization. She reminds us that no past is beyond the reach of Christ’s healing love, and that every soul— regardless of where they’ve been— can become a herald of hope and truth.
St. Mary Magdalene, pray for us.
