Position Summary

St. Joseph School in New London is seeking an enthusiastic Middle School English and Literature Teacher with Grade 7 Religion and homeroom responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating an atmosphere that encourages a love of learning while following the mission of Catholic education and the curriculum of the Diocese of Norwich.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Determine students’ strengths and weaknesses and build lessons accordingly.
• Provide active and creative instruction in English grammar, composition and literature.
• Teach Grade 7 Religion.
• Serve as a homeroom teacher.
• Demonstrate appropriate classroom management skills.
• Communicate well with administration, faculty, staff and parents, working as a team player.
• Create and maintain a safe, productive classroom environment.
• Utilize technology as appropriate.
• Maintain online lesson plans and grade book using the prescribed tool.
• Participate in all required faculty, staff and school activities as indicated by the administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Teaching certification required.
• Experience preferred.
• Master’s degree preferred but not required.
