Position Summary

Sacred Heart School in Taftville is seeking an enthusiastic Middle School English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher who is committed to creating an atmosphere that encourages productive learning for students in Grades 7 and 8.

The ideal candidate will be adept at identifying students’ strengths and areas for growth and developing lesson plans accordingly. Instruction should support the mission of Catholic education and follow diocesan curriculum standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide active and creative instruction in English grammar, composition and literature.
• Provide engaging, student-centered instruction in social studies, encouraging students to analyze historical events, understand global perspectives and make connections between the past and present.
• Serve as a homeroom teacher.
• Demonstrate excellent classroom-management skills.
• Foster a collaborative, positive and faith-filled classroom environment.
• Communicate effectively with families and work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
• Create a safe and productive classroom environment.
• Utilize technology as appropriate.
• Maintain online lesson plans and a grade book using the school’s prescribed platform.
• Participate in all required faculty, staff and school activities as directed by the administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Well-rounded knowledge of English, literature and social studies curricula.
