Memorial Day Masses in the Diocese on May 27

Several Masses are planned to take place within the Diocese on Memorial Day, May 27.

Norwich

In Saint Joseph Cemetery, Boswell Avenue, Norwich, the Most Reverend Michael R. Cote, D.D., Bishop of Norwich will celebrate Mass on Memorial Day on Monday at 9:00 a.m.

Should there be inclement weather, this Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Patrick, 213 Broadway, Norwich.

Taftville

In Sacred Heart Cemetery, 260 Harland Road, Taftville, Reverend Christopher Zmuda will celebrate Mass at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. In case of inclement weather, the Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Taftville.

New London

In Saint Mary Cemetery, Jefferson Avenue, New London, Monsignor Leszek Janik, VG, will celebrate Mass on Monday at 10:00 a.m.

If there is inclement weather, this Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary Church, New London.

Montville

In Saint Patrick Cemetery, Depot Road, Montville, Reverend James Sucholet will celebrate Mass at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.

Saint John Church, Uncasville, will be the site of the Mass if there is inclement weather.

All priests are invited to concelebrate. Please bring alb and white stole.

Work Beginning on Towers at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick

The scaffolding that's recently gone up near the Cathedral of Saint Patrick's main entrance is the sign of a long awaited project that's taking shape. Work is being performed by the Joseph Gnazzo company of Connecticut to repair the two towers at the front of the cathedral's exterior, taking each tower down stone by stone and then re-building using the same stonework. The Diocese of Norwich mourns the passing of Sister Joan Marie Crapps, 77, who passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at St. Joseph Living Center, following complications from cancer, a disease she faced with courage and faith for seven years. Born on December 21, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Eda Mae (Dreager) Crapps.
