Remembering Judith Hughes: A Life of Faith and Service

Judith (Judy) Hughes

Judith (Judy) Hughes

It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Judith (Judy) Hughes, whose nearly five decades of faithful service and dedication to spiritual renewal touched countless lives throughout the Diocese of Norwich.

Judy began her ministry in the late 1970s working alongside Father Ray Introvigne at the Spiritual Renewal Center in Norwich. She later became associate director and, in 1994, was appointed co-director. Together, they led parish missions, retreats, healing services, prayer groups and pilgrimages, helping countless people deepen their faith.

A certified spiritual director, Judy also served in leadership roles with national and international spiritual renewal organizations. She remained active at St. Patrick Church in East Hampton, including its ministry to those grieving the loss of loved ones.

In 2022, Judy received the Our Lady Queen of Hope Award at the Diocesan Women’s Conference in recognition of her extraordinary commitment to Catholic values, spiritual leadership and service to the Church.

In an interview with the Four County Catholic following that recognition, Judy reflected on her years of ministry, saying, “I’ve done it out of love for Him.”

Her humility, deep faith and generous spirit leave a lasting legacy in the Diocese of Norwich and in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

We ask the faithful to remember Judy and her family in their prayers.
Funeral arrangements will be shared as soon as they become available.
