The Knights of Columbus held an Exemplification of the Fourth Degree on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Norwich, marking a significant moment in the life of the Order and the Diocese.
The Fourth Degree, the highest degree within the Knights of Columbus, emphasizes the principle of Patriotism and calls members to live their Catholic faith in faithful service to God, country, and community.
The day began with Mass at 10:30 a.m., which was celebrated at the cathedral and offered in prayer for the candidates and their families. Following Mass, candidates gathered for registration and instruction before taking part in the Exemplification ceremony, which formally welcomed them into the Fourth Degree. A reception and meal followed in the afternoon.
The Exemplification honored and welcomed His Excellency, Bishop Richard Reidy, Bishop of Norwich, who served as the honoree and special guest for the occasion.
Third Degree Knights from across the state advanced to the Fourth Degree during the ceremony, with family members and guests in attendance to witness the milestone. Clergy, Sir Knights, and members of the military, police, and fire services were present, adding to the solemnity and sense of shared mission that defines the Fourth Degree.
The event was coordinated under the leadership of Chris Randall, District Master of Connecticut, with support from local councils and Fourth Degree assemblies.
The Knights of Columbus continue their mission of faith, fraternity, and patriotism, serving the Church and community through charitable works and a public witness to Catholic values.
