St. Michael School is seeking a full-time Pre-K Teacher to create a warm, nurturing, and faith-filled learning environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of three-year-old children.

The teacher will foster early learning skills through developmentally appropriate, play-based instruction while integrating Catholic values, kindness, and respect into daily classroom life.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities aligned with early childhood learning standards for three-year-old students.
  • Support early literacy, early math concepts, motor skills, language development, and social-emotional growth through play-based learning.
  • Create hands-on learning experiences through centers, storytelling, music, art, movement, and outdoor play.
  • Foster independence, curiosity, and a love of learning in a structured but nurturing environment.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily routines, prayer, and classroom experiences when appropriate.
  • Maintain consistent daily routines that support young children’s sense of security and development.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behavior guidance strategies consistent with the mission and expectations of St. Michael School.
  • Supervise students at all times to ensure safety in the classroom, playground, and during transitions.
  • Communicate regularly and positively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the overall early childhood program and school community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children required.
  • Certified teacher or working toward certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a teacher’s assistant to support instruction, classroom routines, and student needs.
