St. Michael School is seeking a part-time Music Teacher for Pre-K through Grade 8 to create a positive, faith-filled learning environment that fosters musical growth, performance skills, and an appreciation for sacred, classical, and contemporary music.

The teacher will integrate Catholic values into the curriculum while providing students with opportunities to develop musical skills, creativity, and an understanding of music history and culture.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate music lessons aligned with school curriculum standards for Pre-K through Grade 8.
  • Teach a progression of musical skills including rhythm, pitch, notation, vocal performance, instrumental instruction, movement, and basic music theory.
  • Lead students in singing and prepare them for school liturgies, Mass participation, seasonal programs, concerts, and other school performances.
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and collaboration through singing, movement, rhythm activities, and instrumental experiences.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into music instruction and performance experiences when appropriate.
  • Expose students to a variety of musical styles and traditions, including sacred music, classical repertoire, and culturally diverse genres.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and respectful learning environment appropriate for Pre-K through Grade 8 students.
  • Promote positive student behavior consistent with the mission and expectations of St. Michael School.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed when using instruments and classroom materials.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school-wide liturgies, prayer services, and special events.
  • Assist in strengthening the school’s music program through performances and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in music education, choral direction, or instrumental instruction preferred.
  • Strong musical background and ability to teach a range of elementary and middle school learners.
