St. Joseph School to Celebrate 150 Years of Excellence in Education

Baltic, CT:   St. Joseph School proudly announces its 150th Anniversary, a significant milestone that celebrates a rich history of educational excellence, community service, and spiritual growth. Established in 1874, St. Joseph School has been a cornerstone of the community, nurturing generations of students and preparing them for a life of faith, learning, and leadership.

The school will commemorate this momentous occasion with a series of events throughout the year, including a grand anniversary brunch, community service projects, and a special commemorative Mass. The highlight of the celebration will take place on January 26, 2025, where alumni, current students, staff, and friends of St. Joseph School will gather to honor the legacy of those who have contributed to its success over the past century and a half.

Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Norwich and Interim Principal, Dr Gail Kingston is proud to play a role in the school’s 150th Anniversary Celebration, stating,  “St. Joseph School community has always and continues to have a strong Catholic Identity through living a Christian life and by using their God given talents to help others.”   Over the years, St. Joseph School has remained dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, moral integrity, and a commitment to service. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum, extracurricular activities, and a supportive community that prepares students for success in high school and beyond.  Open to students of all faiths, the school has expanded over the years to include not only a strong educational foundation but also offers multiple extracurricular activities that encourage students to grow and learn outside of the classroom.

The 150th Anniversary celebration will include:

Commemorative Mass: A special Mass will be held on January 26, 2025 at 10am to honor the school's rich history and its role in the community. Father Tito will be the celebrant for the Mass.    We will have displays on the history of the school, and are really looking forward to sharing this event with all who wish to join us!  So far, we are up to about 130 people coming.

Anniversary Brunch: Join us on January 26, 2025, immediately following the Commemorative Mass, for an elegant event featuring guest speakers Randy Wilkinson representing the Knights of Columbus, who is also a parent and an alumna. Father Josemaria from the Friary will also be speaking.

Community Service Projects: Throughout the year, students and families will engage in service projects to give back to the community that has supported St. Joseph School for 150 years, including a time capsule, planting of a commemorative tree, and more.

For more information on the anniversary events and to register for the Anniversary Brunch, please contact the school office at 860.822.6141 or email jpagliuso@stjoesphschoolbaltic.com.  Brunch tickets are $10 per person, or $40 per family.
