Families are invited to join the Diocese of Norwich for a special pilgrimage celebrating St. Thérèse of Lisieux on October 1. The day will offer opportunities for prayer, fellowship, recreation and learning, with activities planned for children of all ages.
The day begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Shrine of the Little Flower, 35 Dion Drive in Burrillville, R.I., followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 10 a.m., celebrated by Bishop Reidy. At 11 a.m., participants will take part in a walking tour of the Shrine. Strollers are welcome, and most of the paths are paved.
At noon, pilgrims will gather for the Angelus and lunch. Sandwiches, chips, drinks and cookies will be served. The afternoon will continue with organized outdoor group games, crafts and coloring at 12:45 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m., Sister Grace Coffey will give a talk on St. Thérèse for school-aged children ages 6 and older, while children ages 0–5 can enjoy a special storytime.
The pilgrimage will conclude at 2:10 p.m. with a procession featuring the Rosary, Veneration and Benediction.
The event is sponsored by the Diocese of Norwich Pilgrimage Office. The cost is $5 per person for those ages 3 and older, which includes lunch and a small donation to the Shrine. Children under age 2 may attend and receive lunch at no charge.
Families are encouraged to join the Diocese along the “little way of love” for a day centered on St. Thérèse, prayer and family fellowship.
