Guest Speaker: Lisa Irish, MEd, MA, BCC

As All Souls' Day approaches, we are reminded of the profound importance of remembering and honoring our loved ones who have gone before us. It is a time when our hearts are tender, and our need for comfort is great.

In response to the deep and ongoing need for compassionate support during times of loss, the Catholic Community of the Good Shepherd is offering a special evening of healing and hope. On Sunday, November 3rd, we invite you to join us for "Hope in the Land of Loss - Trust Your Grieving Heart", an inspiring 90-minute program led by Lisa Irish, a respected Catholic author, chaplain, and retreat leader. Lisa brings years of experience ministering to those in grief, and her insights offer comfort not only for those mourning recent losses but also for those still carrying the weight of long-ago grief.

This program will provide a safe space to explore your grief, acknowledge its sacredness, and receive spiritual guidance that offers hope in the midst of pain. Whether your loss is fresh or from years past, whether you’re grieving a loved one or navigating non-death losses, this evening will gently guide you toward healing and peace.

After the program, there will be light refreshments and an opportunity to purchase Lisa’s insightful book, Grieving: The Sacred Art: Hope in the Land of Loss.

We invite you to come, and to bring anyone in your life who could benefit from this time of shared reflection and comfort.

“Lisa Irish shows us that grief is our ally in the Land of Loss, and indeed, her book becomes our ally as well. Her insightful study and creative descriptions of grieving tap into our own experiences of loss. The roadmap is wise, but sensitive – grounded in hope – and reminds us to rest in God’s healing love.”

Called to Share the Good News: Celebrating Catechetical Sunday
This Sunday, Sept. 20, Catholics across the United States will celebrate Catechetical Sunday, a day set aside to recognize those who dedicate themselves to teaching and sharing the Catholic faith. This year’s theme, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to bring good news to the poor,” comes from Luke 4:18 and reflects the mission entrusted not only to catechists, but to the entire Church. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops reminds us that Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity to reflect on the responsibility each of us receives th...

Pope Calls for Respect and Love Toward Those Who Think Differently
According to Pope Leo, the message of Gaudium et Spes on “the growing interdependence of men” is especially urgent today. VATICAN CITY — Pope Leo XIV said Wednesday that the diversity of the world’s peoples “must not be considered as a danger or a threat, but rather as a resource for enrichment and growth.” He also criticized confrontational attitudes that, at times, “degenerate into violence.” “Conflict, which at times degenerates into violence, is the result of the power of sin and the way it conditions...

Relic of Christ’s Tunic to be Displayed for Pope Leo in France
The Holy Tunic will travel almost four miles from Argenteuil, France, to the pope’s youth vigil at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.   For the first time, a pope will witness an exposition of the Holy Tunic, the garment worn by Christ during his passion, which is preserved in the Basilica of Saint-Denis in Argenteuil, France. The special relic is put on display during regular expositions every 50 years, as well as on extraordinary occasions — the most recent being in 2023 — but it has never before been brought before a pope. Pope Leo XIV...
