Catholic Charities: Providing Help, Creating Hope

To our valued supporters and clients,

We wanted to update you regarding Catholic Charities actions in response to the Corona (COVID-19) virus. Specifically, we are closely monitoring and following the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as that of our local and state public health organizations.

 What does this mean?

Catholic Charities stands ready to assist with utilities, rent, food, and other emergency basic needs.  We will be conducting appointments by telephone and not in person.  At this time we are unable to accept walk-in clients.  You can make a phone appointment by calling our locations at:

Norwich:  860-889-8346 ext 265

New London:  860-443-5328

Willimantic:  860-423-7065

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich takes the safety and well-being of our clients and staff very seriously. As we continue to monitor the events surrounding the new Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are taking the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.  We will continue to communicate with you and adjust our services and policies as deemed prudent for all concerned: supporters, clients, vendors, and colleagues.

Here's What We're Doing:

Our facilities will receive daily disinfecting to prevent the spread of viruses.

We’ve shared guidance with our staff members outlining how to protect themselves, their family members and our clients.

Employees who are feeling ill are encouraged to stay home.

Staff may choose to wear gloves when assisting clients.

Hand sanitizers are in all locations.

We have decided to temporarily assist clients via telephone rather than in person when possible.

Clients will be seen by appointment only, no walk-in’s accepted

Here's What You Can Do:

We encourage anyone who has experienced flu-like symptoms, or has family members with symptoms, to refrain from visiting Catholic Charities if at all possible. If a visit to us is necessary, please be sure to let us know your situation before entering the building.

Call Catholic Charities to set up appointments for the food pantry, utility and rental assistance.

As the Coronavirus (COVID - 19) continues to spread, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has made the following recommendations for those at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19:

Stock up on supplies.

Take everyday precautions to keep space between yourself and others.

When you go out in public, keep away from others who are sick, limit close contact and wash your hands often.

Avoid crowds and social situations as much as possible.

Avoid cruise travel and non-essential air travel.

During a COVID-19 outbreak in your community, stay home as much as possible to further reduce your risk of being exposed.

For more information on Coronavirus, please visit the CDC's website.

Thank you for your understanding and patience at this time. We wish you, your loved ones and our community good health at this time and always.
