24 Hours for the Lord

24 Hours for the Lord

In communion with Pope Francis, we are invited to join with the universal Church around the world in observing “24 Hours for the Lord” – a way to encounter God and His mercy this Lent through Reconciliation. This is a time of seeking God’s forgiveness and a change of heart.

This annual initiative will be held on Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th throughout the seven Deaneries of the Diocese. It is an opportunity for people to avail themselves of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The objective is to offer to all, especially those who feel uncomfortable entering a church, the occasion to experience the merciful embrace of God.

Take this opportunity to continue your Lenten process of conversion in preparation for the celebration of Easter by visiting one of these participating churches near you:

Ash Wednesday at the Cathedral: “Return to Me… It Is Not Too Late.”
The Diocese of Norwich entered the holy season of Lent with the celebration of Ash Wednesday Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, with the Most Reverend Richard F. Reidy as celebrant, concelebrated by Father Ted Tumicki and Father Brian Romanowski. In his homily, Bishop Reidy set the tone for Lent with words that were both direct and deeply hopeful.
