As our nation commemorates the 250th Anniversary of the United States, the Cathedral of Saint Patrick invites the community to gather for an evening of music, patriotism, and unity on Friday, July 3, at 6:30 p.m.
The special Patriotic Sing-A-Long will feature Cathedral organist Michael Steven Lianos leading attendees through beloved American hymns and patriotic favorites that have inspired generations of Americans. Selections will include My Country 'Tis of Thee, The Star-Spangled Banner, Eternal Father, Strong to Save (commonly known as the Navy Hymn), Battle Hymn of the Republic, and other treasured pieces that celebrate both faith and country.
The concert will also showcase the works of several distinguished American composers, including Aaron Copland, John Philip Sousa, Dudley Buck, and Connecticut native Charles Ives, whose music helped shape America's rich musical heritage.
As the nation reflects on two and a half centuries of independence, sacrifice, and shared ideals, this event offers a meaningful opportunity to come together in song and gratitude. Families are encouraged to attend and share in the experience of singing the patriotic hymns and melodies that have united Americans through generations.
The one-hour program offers families an opportunity to begin a new Independence Day tradition while celebrating America's 250th anniversary in a spirit of unity and thanksgiving.
Admission is free. Due to copyright restrictions, the concert will not be livestreamed. However, attendees will have the opportunity to make a free-will donation to support the restoration of the Cathedral towers.
All are welcome to join in this joyful celebration of faith, music, and country as we raise our voices together in honor of our nation's past, present, and future.
